Boys Will Be Boys

So I know I'm a little "type A" when it comes to keeping things organized and clean. I really try to let that go when it comes to Bennett. I try hard to let him get down and dirty and just be a boy. I try not to worry too much about his sweet potatoes running down his shirt or getting into his hair or cheerios on the floor. I try, but sometimes....

Tonight Fletcher took care of feeding Bennett while I cooked dinner. We were all chatting in the kitchen (I had my back to the shenanigans). Everything seemed to be running smoothly. I could hear Bennett giggling at his daddy making faces at him while feeding him. When I turned around....my goodness!!! I've never seen more food on that child. Did any of it make it into his mouth. The picture doesn't do it justice. I had to clean off the 20 cheerios that were stuck (really actually stuck) to Bennett's face, neck and hands. I even found a few in his little chubby creases around his thighs. Bennett couldn't have been happier. The more he could smear on his face or in his hair the more he giggled. And then the fun part....let's smear it on Mommy when she picks me up. Now that's talent. I know there's a lesson here. Boys will be boys! I'm lucky to have a wonderful husband who wants to help out. And then there's always bathtime!

Cheerio Anyone?

We've reached a benchmark in our house. Bennett is actually picking up the cheerio (with deep concentration), putting it in his mouth and chewing it up. He'll chew that one cheerio for a good 5 minutes....you'd think it was beef jerky. We've been working on this for weeks. He's shown no interest in eating them up until this point, so I got a kick out of watching him snack like a pro today. What a champ! Cheerios today....Fruity Pebbles here we come!

My Guys!

Ok, so I know I'm biased, but are these two guys not the most handsome????

A Visit From CeCe and Pops

This past weekend CeCe and Pops made the drive down from Nashville to see the big boy. Bennett loved it! He performed all his new tricks including his girgling sound, his growl, his "ba-ba-ba" and finally his newest one...the biting of his upper lip. I know....so exciting, but around our house any new sound or facial expression is major. :) Although the trip was a quick one, we enjoyed a nice dinner, Bennett's entertaining bathtime and a few rounds of spades. Aunt Katie sent down some of Cousin Trey's old shoes and toys for us to enjoy. Thanks Katie! Bennett is loving the toys!

An Ode to the Johnny Jumper!

Oh my goodness! I have to give credit where credit is due. What genuis came up with the Johnny Jumper? I would love to hug their neck. Because of this fabulous invention, I can bath in the morning. I can make our bed. I can brush my teeth and even have the luxury of blow drying my hair. Bennett loves his Johnny Jumper and so do I. He'll bounce and bounce for 30 minutes at a time. He can even jump up and click his heels in the air. Such a talented little guy!

Nina and Aunt Jade Come Visit!

Fletcher and I had a wedding to attend this past weekend in Corinth, Mississippi and Mom was hoping to get in one more visit before school starts....perfect timing! She and Jade flew in Wednesday and kept Bennett this weekend while we had a night away. Bennett loved playing with his Nina and Aunt Jade. They enjoyed pizza on the patio and Aunt Jade evening attempted some crawling lessons.....sadly, no crawling to report as of yet, but we're so close. We hated to see them leave, but we dropped Nina and Jade off at the Atlanta airport this morning and just received word they have landed safely back at DFW. Can't wait for our next visit!

Camp Meeting!

One of my favorite weeks out of the year has always been the first week of August. Since as long as I can remember, my family has gone to Bloys Camp Meeting. It all started years ago, when my stepdad's grandfather began going. It was a church camp for those who lived in the area. Ronny, my stepdad, has his handprints in the concrete patio that was layed in 1959 in front of our cabin. Every year we go and get to visit with family and friends from all over who also have been coming for years and years. It's out in West Texas in the Davis Mountains and it is one of Texas' best kept secrets. The weather gets down to the 50s in the mornings and evenings and you can attend church as often or as little as you'd like and hear some of the most wonderful pastors speak. We eat in the cook shed and enjoy the most delicious cobbler and ice cream. Entertainment consists of sitting on the porch visiting while the sun goes down and singing oldies while Maxie plays the guitar and Eldon whistles along. You can always jump in on a game of dominos or catch up on your reading. We spent an afternoon at the McDonald Observatory and had lunch in town at the local drug store where they have the old fountain drinks and malts. Yum!!! Bennett had his baths outside in his ducky tub and even got to ring the bell before church (big honor for the kids). Bennett and Fletcher got their first Bloys experience this summer and we can't wait for next August.

Thanks to Nina and Pa for getting the cabin all ready for Bennett and for a fabulous time!

It's Official! New Address!!

This past week has been a crazy one. We have officially completed our move and I have to say.....it feels good to be done. CeCe and Pops came down on Friday to help us with Bennett. They ended up doing everything under the sun. Poor Pops! I hope he's not too sore for his golf games this week. CeCe had Bennett and he was in high heaven getting to play play play!

Thank you CeCe and Pops for all of your help! We couldn't have done it without you!
