Guam Getaway

We decided we needed a little adventure and the boys needed a summer vacation (as did their mom).  We packed our bags Friday night and hopped a space A flight to Guam on Saturday.  Arriving in the middle of the night, we woke up Sunday ready to explore.  Our hotel was awesome with a great pool and beach with lots to do.  We kayaked, snorkeled, paddle-boated, and snorkeled some more.  We hit up a water park which was a highlight for the boys....who doesn't love a good lazy river?  We got our "America" fix with all the chain restaurants and even got to go to a shopping mall.  There was a Macys!  Driving on the right side of the road looked pretty odd at first, but it was like riding a bike.  Space A is a tricky thing though.  Lots of flights to Guam, but none out of there, hence why people call it the "black hole" of space A travel.  We explored until the only place left to explore was the Chanel store, so Fletcher thought it cheaper to buy commercial tickets back.:)  He's probably right.  Beautiful beaches and great shopping make for a recommended destination.

Snorkeling at Maeda Flats

The boys love to snorkel and we have the perfect spot just up the street.  What a fun afternoon!

Date Night at Sea Time

Fletcher and I had a date night with some sweet friends at one of our favorite little restaurants up the street.  So nice to have adult conversation and eat great food sans kiddos.  The weather was beautiful, so we stopped to enjoy it before heading into our dining spot.

Man, It's Hot!

It is WARM!  I'm use to heat growing up in Texas, but it's the heat/humidity combination that makes getting ready in the morning pretty pointless.  We start our day with 8:00 am swim lessons which helps, then to school in an effort to stay out of the hottest part of the day.  Once school is out, we're either at the pool.....or indulging in one of the best "beat-the-heat" pastimes.....ICE CREAM!  We are in love with Cape Zanpa Lighthouse and conveniently there's a beat up, run down old city bus that is now a food/ice cream truck.  In the states, I would run from something that looks like this, but in Okinawa it seems perfectly nermal to buy ice cream.  The boys love it and then we head over to say hi to our pseudo pet goats.  A perfect pet in my mind....we feed them and someone else cleans up the poop!

Tennis Clinic

Bennett had a little break from school so we decided to put him in a tennis clinic on base.  He is really enjoying it and I can see some improvement.  I snapped a few pics this morning.

Summer Cuts

It's no secret I love my boys with their shaggy hair, but it's hot in Okinawa.  Bennett has been asking for a haircut like Daddy's and I finally gave in.  Beau makes it a practice to refuse having his locks touched, but he was uncharacteristicly excited about a new do.  SO you can see a picture I took of Beau the day before we hit the barber shop.  Quite a change, but it's been hassle-free ever since.

Happy 4th!

Daddy is at Camp Fuji and Momma is sick!  Boo!  BUT we will celebrate the 4th of July!  I took the boys to the swimmng pool for a morning swim.  Bennett and Beau these days would rather be at the pool than anywhere else, so the day started off on the right foot.  We left the pool to come home for an afternoon rest before attending a friend's birthday/4th of July party.  It was a beautiful day in Okinawa!  We were counting our blessings, but definitely missing Fletcher.

Flightline Fest

June 30th was Flightline Fest at Futemna and Fletcher couldn't wait to take the boys.  Although it was a hot day, we rallied for the event.  Of course, once we got there the boys were fascinated by all the aircraft.  They loved going aboard the C-130, the C-12, and getting an upclose look at a Cobra.  The kiddie rides was an added bonus.  Not sure which of the three boys had more fun.:)
