Our Latest Hobbies

It's funny how the boys find new things they love to do. For Bennett, it's using his imagination to create different scenarios. The rest of us just have to pretend and go along whether he's the UPS man (we get lots of packages), the fireman going to put out fires, the weed-eater man going to Ms. Brenda's to do yard work, or the latest which is a babysitter. He's been taking great care of Mickey all week. I've even had to set down some ground rules when I found him really trying to feed him Beau's food. Mickey goes to Target with us, to the Y....he's even been put in time-out for hitting (wonder where he came up with that one). Now Beau on the other hand, has learned that he can empty Fletcher's drawers in a matter of seconds. He loves it. You can see the pride with each t-shirt that hits the floor. He also likes to let us know when he's awake in his bed not by simply crying out, but also by throwing his pacifiers. The kid can hit the wall across the room when he wants to. But lucky for us, he's not mad when we come in....he always greets us with us smile.

Happy 1st Day of School (in our "underwears")

Today was Bennett's first day of school and he was so excited. We've been practicing our teachers' names, our manners, sharing, etc. We're potty training, so Bennett marched into his new classroom wearing new shoes and new "underwears" as he calls them. I was a little nervous that he might get preoccupied with a room full of new toys and forget to tell the teacher, but he didn't. He had a great first day of school and even went to the potty twice. Beau was thrilled to see his brother off to school and get some undivided TLC from Momma.

Enjoying our Summer

I sort of feel like this summer has passed me by and I'm not sure why. We decided today after we got our chores done to head to the neighborhood pool and enjoy some R&R. Bennett and Beau both love the water and I love the sun...I know, I know...it's a terrible thing, BUT tan fat looks a heck of a lot better than pasty fat. :) I did manage to snap a few pictures of the Tidwell boys playing in the water.

The Latest and Greatest

Fletcher brought the boys each a flight suit from his stay in California. Beau's is a little big for him, but Bennett is in heaven. He's convinced he flies helicopters and he says Beau-man flies jets. We have the same battle every morning when Fletcher is getting ready for work....Bennett gets ready for "work" too. All is good until Fletcher actually leaves and Bennett is upset he doesn't get to go along. Beau on the other hand is so content with breakfast....keep the cheerios coming and he's all smiles.

Growing Fast

Beau is right on Bennett's tail. His latest trick is pulling up on his walker and taking steps. I guess watching big brother helps a lot...either that or Beau knows once he gets his wheels it'll be more of an equal playing ground. We're still anxiously awaiting teeth...any day now. Bennett is potty training and doing well so far. We're not completely broken of going in our undies, but we're close. He tried out his bike today in the cul-de-sac. He might have pedaled better without his fireman boots on, but he insisted. Boxer briefs, fireman boots, and a polo....our neighbors must think we're nuts.

Cooking in the Kitchen

Bennett and Beau got this kitchen from the Easter Bunny this year and it has been worth every penny (especially since it was used). They were cooking up some dinner for us tonight. So nice when big brother lets the little one play too.

Comparing Pictures

Everyone asks me who I think Beau looks like and I wasn't sure until our visit to Papa and Grammy's house. I saw this picture on the wall of my dad and Aunt Golda. Call me crazy, but I thought it looked a little like Beau. Papa's hair was light when he was young much like Beau's. Just wanted to post and let you see for yourself.

Movies for Munchkins

Today we went to the Strand Theater at the Marietta Square for their Movies for Munchkins....what a great idea. The kids loved it. We watched Curious George and both Bennett and Ali loved it. I wish I had gotten a picture of the two of them walking into the movie hand in hand. Jamie and I got a kick out of it. Beau and Rhodes were such troopers. We actually made it through the whole movie. Can't wait for the next showing!

Our Busy House

We've only been home less than a week and we've got a lot going on in this house. First of all, my "Beau-man" is 8 months old today. He's precious...so sweet and easygoing! Also he made it up the stairs today. He's been trying and I would always stop him, but today to celebrate his 8 month bday I decided to see how far he could go. He can go ALL the way! Yeah for him! Now Mommy needs to get some good barriers. And big brother Bennett is potty training. So far, so good. Just one accident to speak of (and I just trashed the evidence). He's so excited to be wearing his "underwears" and so are we. Today we received a care package from Grammy and Papa with Bennett's cowboy boots in it. He also had a new cowboy belt with a real buckle. He was thrilled and had to put them on immediately. He thought the tag off the belt was his sheriff badge. We just roll with it.
