Bennett Enjoys Fun in the Sun!

The soothing sounds of the ocean should be all too familiar to our little Bennett seeing as though I spent most of my pregnancy in sunny San Diego. Bless his heart, we upped and moved about a month before he arrived. No fair, I know! This past weekend Fletcher, Bennett and I decided to head south and check out the white sands of Florida. Still a little too cool for a true beach day, but that didn't stop us from heading out on the boat, lunching overlooking the water, and enjoying a few cocktails at sunset (Bennett skipped out on the cocktails). :) It was gorgeous and just what we needed. Fletcher showed us his old stomping grounds of where he endured flight school in Pensacola and Milton along with the old hot spots. Bennett is such a good little traveler. I know he won't remember his day at the Naval Aviation Museum or checking out the helos his daddy trained in, but we've got the pictures to show him.

Happy Easter!

It's amazing! Having a child really makes holidays take on a whole new meaning. Waking up Easter morning and heading to church to celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord makes me take note of just how blessed I am. I have a wonderful husband and beautiful son. We're all healthy and are surrounded by family and friends. Life is good. Fletcher, Bennett and I spent this Easter in Nashville with Fletcher's family. This time a year ago, I was in San Diego with my mother, Fletcher had just deployed for the third time to Iraq.....and we were about to find out the greatest news to date....that we were expecting! Wow! What a difference a year makes. Pretty amazing.

Bennett Meets the Easter Bunny!

Bennett met the Easter Bunny this past week and can I just tell you what a joy it is to see his face light up. This Easter Bunny just happened to be a giant bunny. Bennett looked tiny next to it. Mrs. Youngblood was thoughtful enough to send Bennett a darling little bunny bubble suit....so precious! I hope the Easter Bunny will still come see me!

Bennett Goes to Texas

It's spring break and instead of my mother coming to visit us in Atlanta, we decided it would be a great opportunity to get Bennett's feet in some Texas soil.....the first soil those little toes are going to touch has to be in Texas. I was a nervous wreck about flying with an 11 week old, but Bennett was one cool cat. He slept the entire time leaving me to have to talk to the crazy in the seat next to us. Mom scooped us at the airport and it was off to B-town from there. So nice to be home and get to sleep in my old room. Bennett loved the lonestar state. Weather was perfect and we got to spend our evenings sitting out on the patio talking and listening to music. We played in the treehouse Pa built and got to swing for hours. We made the rounds introducing the little fella to his aunts and uncles, cousins, great-grandparents, and more cousins. In that short trip, Mr. Bennett starting getting his second tooth in, starting babbling a lot, and took to a whole new volume level. The flight back to Georgia, I'm happy to say, was as uneventful as the first one....Yeah!!! We can't wait for our next trip to Tejas!

Family Day Outting

I love those rare weekdays when Fletcher has off work. We get to explore this new city and he's always up for doing something fun. Yesterday we decided it was the perfect opportunity to check out Atlanta's famous aquarium. Bennett will love it when he's a little older.....he slept through it this time around, but we documented it for him anyway. They have touch pools where you can feel the sting rays and sharks (gave me the whillies) and one huge tank with every kind of fish you can imagine (holds 6.2 million gallons of water). Crazy! So nice for us to have a family day out. I've only been in Atlanta for going on 3 months and with Bennett's arrival, learning my way around is a slow process, so days where we can get out and about are lots of fun for me. Bennett and I are getting better and with our new GPS system in my car, we'll be able to find whatever it is we're looking for. Here's a family portrait at the aquarium.

Bennett Meets Nana Sue & GP!

Well, we've had an eventful week. Nana Sue (my former boss) and GP (Grandma Penny....our buyer's agent and dear friend) came out from sunny southern California to visit us and meet Bennett. Bless their hearts! They were only here for a day when I got pretty sick. We're talking fever and the whole bit. Those ladies took over with Bennett while I got some much-needed rest. I'll have to say, Bennett and Fletcher loved every minute of it. Sue and Penny spoiled my boys with new toys and homemade chocolate chip cookies, lemon pie, and the list goes on. We're blessed to have such a wonderful extended family. We hated to see them go, but know they'd had enough of this chilly weather. Now they can put their winter coats back in storage until their next visit to the south!

Tummy Time...

Well, Fletcher is out of town for work, so last night was my first night alone with Bennett. I'll have to admit, I was a little nervous about how it would all go down. I'm proud to say we both survived. We fell asleep after watching all the crazy people audition on American Idol (I'm embarrassed that I'm exposing my first-born to such nonsense, but I can't help it). Bennett is a late-night eater like his mommy. Once the clock strikes midnight, he's ready to eat. Lucky for me, he seems to like his crib and will entertain himself until he drifts off to sleep once I put him down. Today I have a doctor's appt, so we'll see how he does there. I'm praying he naps...please let him nap. I don't want to be that lady with the screaming baby....not yet anyway. I know my time is coming. I need to take this in to the nurse to prove that we really are doing our tummy time.
